The Southbound 101 band came into being in early 2020 when drummer Dave Hendrickson recruited the best local country musicians in the Bay Area. Guitarist and back up singer, Mike Urbina teamed up with Hendrickson to audition singers, bass players and lead guitar players. Bass player, Rob Simons was the first to join, and soon after lead singer Dan Hoskins joined, followed by Phil Benjamin on lead guitar. Dan knew an awesome fiddle player by the name of Jaydon Jones. Jaydon jumped in at one of SB101’s first gigs, and he is the band’s secret but not-so-secret “weapon” ever since.
In 2023 Southbound 101 had a personnel change when Dan Hoskins left the band. New lead singer Mark Sargent took over front-man duties and has been a great addition to the awesome musical line up. Just starting their 4th year, Southbound 101 continues their successful gig schedule, playing at a variety of venues. The band has enjoyed playing local south bay clubs and wineries, and the Gilroy Rodeo in 2022. 2024 will see the band continue its success, playing many bay area venues, including the Gilroy Rodeo on August 11th.
